thirsty thursday

I’m always thirsty for inspiration. Here are a few random images I’ve collected over the past week.

Sources (not necessarily in order): decor8, emma’s designblogg, fine little day, graphic-exchange.

random love

I’ve been quite busy lately, especially with work. Also, for a while there, my hosting was down. Now that it’s back, I’m just sloppily posting things that I lusted over during its downtime.

new home love: norrgavel

I have little to no information about this Swedish home furnishings company. Only these pictures from their newest catalog. But I’m content with just being inspired by these photos.

belinda george architects

Nice, soft designs by Belinda George Architects of New Zealand discovered through desire to inspire. Absolutely love the large sliding doors / windows that make home open to the outside world.

anthroplogie windows: spring & summer 09

Nothing here but a few delicious and recent Anthroplogie windows that I’m in love with. The photos all belong to their respective owners. Click on the images to be taken to their original sources.

I’m not exactly sure how Anthropologie comes up with their designs, but from what I’ve seen, it seems like perhaps corporate might choose a specific color scheme, idea/concept, or material for each season/display period and then the individual display coordinators create installations of their interpretation. If anyone knows how it all works, let me know—I’ve been curious for years! :D

These cardboard and paper ( ? ) honeycomb shapes are absolutely gorgeous. I would love to have these in my bedroom for summer. They’re simple, bright, and glowing.

I’m so glad I found this third photo on the Anthro facebook page. I saw this display at the store in Towson, MD a few weeks ago but didn’t even think to take a picture. The windows that border the stores front and sides were filled with these drapes of color. Different hues and shades of blue, green, yellow, and purple fabric fabric pieces were tied together to create weeping willow-like shapes all hung staggered and in layers.

When I first scrolled by this photo, I went “huh” and then realized the installation was made up of hundreds of bear honey bottles. The beautiful beam of strings shooting from the tree stump up and down to the bottles look like a stream of light rays which compliment the chandelier-like glimmer of the bottles themselves. Let’s just hope none of these fall—that could be a sticky mess!

I’m constantly on the lookout for beautiful displays (and not just from Anthro). If you know of any, please send them my way! I could look at this stuff for hours on end.

hi-res ikea photos

While snooping around google image search, I came across these… Hi-res photos from the 2007 Ikea catalog (probably my favorite to date, to be honest) and I figured I’d share them. I mean, I have no idea why you’d want them other than to look at (constantly), like me, but whatever! (Click on the picture for the full-sized guys)

The first few are to blame greatly for my obsession with the Swedish home store. These five shots were used both in the catalog and an interactive online site and all come from a model home Ikea set up. I think a lot of my interior style is subconsciously drawn from this home—it’s modern but traditional, neutral but colorful, large but cozy. I wish the Ikea press site had more images from this home such as the bathroom, livingroom, or kids room. It’s really just perfect.

Here are a few more rooms from the 2007 catalog. The first greatly inspired my bedroom right now—especially the one black wall, which I have. It’s clean, modern, birch, bright, and colorful—just what I wanted.

summer = funner?

I’m here! I’m here! Life has been busy. Fun, though? Sometimes. Working, saving, sending, spending, enjoying, etc. There’s a lot of eating and not enough sleeping in there, too.

One of the things I’ve been wasting the very few minutes of free time on, has been POLYVORE. It’s a collaging site where you can throw together outfits, make moodboards, or whatever really. It’s a fun way to relax and experiment. Go check it out. Try to ignore the masses of collages cluttered with “keep your head up, girl” quotes made by preteen girls—there’s alot of good inspiration on there if you look for it.

oh hey, i think it’s summer

It’s been quite a busy summer, and I’m only 6 days into it. Let’s see, there’s the unpacking (my room is still a giant mess of boxes and clothes everywhere. I need to get my act together, I miss seeing my pretty wood floor), working at Isaacs to make a few bucks, freelancing, designing for the heck of it, catching up with friends I’ve lost contact with, applying for jobs, and a bunch of other things.

I leave you with just a few things I’ve found over the past day or two that make me happy. I believe they all were found through Door Sixteen, Desire To Inspire, or The Style Files. So show some love and check them out.
